Holiday Inn, Krabi – A haven for families in paradise!
We have always been huge fans of Holiday Inn properties – they just know what families and kid’s want from their holiday and have never let us down. The Holiday Inn Resort in Krabi was no different. We had the most amazing stay and here is why!
THE ROOMS
We booked a family suite which was two interconnecting rooms, with the kid’s room being a boat theme. There was two boat shape beds, Xbox console, large round bath and mini kids size vanity. An absolutely gorgeous room , generous in size and perfect for the kids to feel like they have their own kids space. Their room also has double doors that lead out to the outdoor alfresco area but we kept those ones locked.
Our room had a large bed, open bathroom with a door partition that you can close off to make it fully enclosed, mini bar and again doors going to the alfresco (These rooms lead directly out to the pools which are only metres away so those with little ones will need to be mindful of this). I have come to loathe hotel rooms where I have to walk 3kms to get to the pool because we all know us Mums will forget something and need to walk back at least twice a day! The location of these rooms couldn’t be better – no need to “bags “ pool chairs first thing in the morning (not that we do this 😉) as you have your own chairs out on the alfresco, right in front of the pool. When we return to this hotel we are defnitley requesting these rooms, they are just perfect!
There is also the option of the Kids Suite which has a separate sliding door with bunk beds for the kids in a fantastic kids space.
POOLS / PLAYGROUNDS
There is three pools at the resort – an Adults only pool, kids pool and main pool area. There is a swim up pool bar in the main pool with great happy hour specials from 3pm to 5pm, and is also great for toddlers and babies as the pool has a small ledge on one side with bubbles which my three year old loved. The kids pool has 4 different waterslides catering for all ages which my older two loved. The littlest one isn’t one to like getting his head wet yet so he didn’t use the slides at all. But it’s a great depth for them to swim and play if they don’t want to use the slides aswell.
Next to the main pool is a kids playground with climbing equipment and a large trampoline which my boys loved early in the mornings.
KIDS CLUB
This was one of the best kids clubs we have been to. We were a bit disappointed to find out kids under 5 needed an adult but this is quite common and one of us didn’t mind staying in there and reading or working for an hour or so while the boys played (Alysse is far too cool for kids clubs now).
There was everything from lego tables, books and movies, climbing equipment with a ball pit to arts and crafts and lots of great toys. The boys also loved attending the kids club party one afternoon with games and party food and prizes! They also run lots of activities that do cost a small fee but looked great fun like pizza cooking classes etc. Oh and the kids club was a tiny walk from our room, another bonus of the family suite!
KIDS EAT FREE
One of the perks of staying at a Holiday Inn Property is the Kids Eat Free deals! When you have three kids it can make a huge difference. The main restaurant called Inn Asia, which is where breakfast is served, is the place to go for lunch and dinner. For lunch we were getting 2 adult meals, 2 drinks, 3 kids meals and 3 kids drinks for around $25! Huge saving.
BREAKFAST / RESTAURANTS
The buffet breakfast here is amazing! I had everything from freshly prepared eggs, green curry, rice, noodles to boring old toast and fruit. There is something for everyone and I love how they provide kids cutlery and plates!
There is also a great little snack bar next to the pool bar which has options like pizzas, burgers etc but the kids don’t eat free here.
LOCATION
The hotel is set along Ao Nang Beach and around a ten minute walk into the main town area. There is plenty of bars and restaurants just opposite or around the hotel and one of our favourites was just opposite the hotel – fantastic food, happy hour cocktails and a great place to watch the sunset while the kids watched the crabs down on the beach.
We have stayed at many family resorts around the world but this property is by far one of our favourites. Fun for the kids, convenient and great location. Huge thumbs up from us and we will defnitley be returning!
